Hello Everyone,
These obituaries have been posted to the Poland Border Surnames-OBITUARY
mail list from 08-23 through 8-31. It covers Digests 31 through 36.
To view the obituaries, please go to this website:
http://searches2.rootsweb.com/cgi-bin/listsearch.pl On that page type in
PolandBorderSurnames-OBITUARIES, with no spaces between the words. Click on
enter. That will take you to the archives. Next type in the surname(s) you
are searching one at a time. Click on enter each time you try to locate a
new one. This will produce a clickable link for all the obituaries posted
with each of these names. If you click on the word "Full" under the surname,
it will give you the letter with the complete obituary. This type of search
includes the names in the body of the letters also, not just the subject
line.
We are receiving obituaries from France, Canada, NW Indiana, Metro Toledo
area, Northwest Ohio and Southeast Michigan. If anyone would like to
contribute to the list, please let me know which areas you would like to
cover so we do not have duplications.
I hope you find many cousins. Why cousins? This is an easy one to answer.
Many times we do not know who our cousins are. They may have information on
our families, which we may not know. Some people feel they just want to
search their direct ancestors. This is good, but if you are stuck, and
dont know where to go, a cousin may have the answer, which can further
your research. I recently had a cousin give me one more generation, plus
the names of my great great grandfathers sister and brother, and the last
names of their spouses. With this I found a cousin on the Internet also
researching. She was born in Ohio, and now lives in Louisiana. She gave me
the history on how her grandparents, a granduncle and cousin escaped from
Poland about 1911. Her grandfather was a Polish Cossack, and was the son of
my great great grandfathers brother. I have helped her locate a person
with the same last name of her grandmother in the village of Kruszki, where
her family lived. We hope to find out how he is related to her by writing
to him.
Remember there is more information out there than you can imagine. You just
need to find it. Cousins can be a good source of verbal family history that
has been passed from one generation on to another. There are a few cousins
who have documented information, but most is verbal history.
Thank you,
Tina Ellis
