CIESIELKA is a Polish spelled name:
Nazwisko Ogólna liczba Rozmieszczenie
Ciesielka 701 Wa:10, By:10, Ch:12, El:4, Gd:6, Go:6, JG:13, Kl:3, Ka:21,
Ki:6, Ko:1, Kr:26, Lg:5, Lu:125, Ld:6, NS:356, Ol:16, Op:33, Pl:5, Po:4,
Pr:10, Rz:1, Su:3, Sz:9, Ta:1, Wb:4, Wl:1, ZG:4
There were 701 of them in Poland in 1990.
If they changed their name, it may have been one of these:
Ciesielkiewicz 18 El:2, JG:5, Ka:4, Ld:3, Pl:1, Sk:3
Ciesielko 1 Wa:1
Ciesielkowski 1 Ka:1
Your next step in trying to further your research on them, is to learn
where they came from In Poland. In checking the Ellis Island website, it
shows most came from Galicia or Hungary.
Finding the ship manifests for them, should tell you where they came from
in Poland before leaving and/or where they were born depending on the year
they traveled. Records had more information after 1906. If the census
records show they became citizens, they may tell you when. That will give
you a time frame in which to locate records for those papers. The
Declaration of Intention will tell where the head of the household was
born. The Naturalization papers will tell you where the wife and children
were born. Before 1906, they were filed in the local county courthouse.
After 1996, they were filed in the local Federal District Court.

Subject: [PBS] CIESIELKA surname
Hi There,
I'm searching for any information on my relatives. The farthest back I can
trace is to great-grandparents who came to the US around 1905 (the Ohio
census says 1911) from Poland. I found their names on two 1930 census'
listed as John & Mary Ciesielka (one census was in Ohio and the other was
in Penn. But both were in 1930.)
I have not been able to find much information at all about CIESIELKAs in
Poland. I heard that they might have changed some letters in their name
when they came over. However, I have no proof of this.
I'm pretty sure Philadelphia is where they first came to.
If you have any information or any advice, please let me know.
Thank you very much!
