Hi Quail Cousins,

I figured since I started this List on Rootsweb I might as well send out an email and get the ball rolling.

I am researching the surname Quail. It is my paternal grandmother's maiden name. I have only a small amount of info as of yet, but am hoping to share what I have with anyone it may help.

If you all wouldn't mind posting your Quail search, that would be a nice start.

1. Samuel QUAIL. Samuel died on 22 Apr 1845 in Illinois. Buried in Weavers Graveyard, Vermilian County, Illinois.

On 28 Jan 1808 Samuel married Asenth DENNIS.

They had the following children:

i. Robert. Born on 6 Jun 1809 in Franklin, Fayette County, Pennsylvania. Robert died on 2 May 1849, he was 39.

ii. Deborah. Born on 6 Jun 1811 in Fayette County, Pennsylvania.

iv. Mary. Born on 24 Sep 1817 in Washington, Fayette County, Pennsylvania. Mary died on 26 May 1820, she was 2. Buried in Robt. Drake Crick, Randolf, Dearborne County, Indiana.

v. Hugh. Born on 17 Mar 1820 in Randolf, Dearborn County, Indiana. Hugh died on 10 Nov 1820 in Dearborn County, Indiana. Buried in Robt. Drake Crick, Randolf, Dearborne County, Indiana.

vi. Asentha (Aseneth). Born on 8 Apr 1821.

vii. Samuel J.. Born on 31 Oct 1823 in Fairfield, Butler County, Ohio. Samuel J. died on 11 Mar 1835, he was 11.

viii. Jane. Born on 20 Mar 1830 in Butler County, Ohio. Jane died on 2 Oct 1830. Buried in Somses Yard, Butler County, Ohio.

2. John QUAIL. Born on 28 Jul 1815 in Washington, Fayette County, Pennsylvania.

On 11 Nov 1852 when John was 37, he married Mary M. McCULLEN. Born in 1834. Mary M. died on 14 Nov 1897, she was 63.

They had the following children:

3 i. Samuel Elbert (1853-1897)

ii. Robert Henry. Born on 5 Dec 1861. Robert Henry died in Mentmore, New Mexico on 15 Aug 1930, he was 68. Buried in Hillcrest Cemetery, Gallup, McKinley County, New Mexico.

Robert Henry married Maude J. HILL.

iii. John D.. Born on 6 Apr 1863.

3. Samuel Elbert QUAIL. Born on 28 Aug 1853 in Warren County, Indiana. Samuel Elbert died in Neeleyville, Missouri on 26 Jan 1897, he was 43.

On 7 May 1895 when Samuel Elbert was 41, he married Maude J. HILL, in Neelyville, Butler County, Missouri.

They had one child:

On 27 Aug 1917 when Elbert Joshua was 21, he married Anne Muriel DICKENS, daughter of Thomas Marion DICKENS & Sarah Catherine STATLER, in Independence Church, Neeleyville, Missouri. Born on 9 Feb 1898 in Davisville, Missouri. Anne Muriel died in Gallup, McKinley County, New Mexico on 13 Oct 1969, she was 71.

They had the following children:

Maude Muriel married James FERGUSON.

6. Sarah Elizabeth QUAIL. Born on 8 Mar 1920 in East St. Louis, Illinois.

Sarah Elizabeth married James Edward WRIGHT.

They had the following children:

7. Elberta Josephine QUAIL. Born on 30 Jun 1921 in East St. Louis, St. Clair County, Illinois. Elberta Josephine died in In her home in Cortez, Montezuma County, Colorado on 9 Dec 2001, she was 80. Buried in Cremated. Religion: Lutheran.

On 4 May 1940 when Elberta Josephine was 18, she married Alvin Leslie BISHOP Sr., son of Boyce Lee BISHOP & Eva Grace SHEPPARD, in Farmington, San Juan County, New Mexico. Born on 13 May 1917 in Rural Area Near Lebanon, Montezuma County, Colorado. Alvin Leslie died in His Home, Cortez, Montezuma County, Colorado on 21 Dec 1999, he was 82.

They had the following children:

ii. Jeanette Eileen. Born on 4 Jul 1943.

iii. Gary Richard. Born on 5 Aug 1947.

Thelma Yvonne first married Thomas G. SHOCKLEY. Born on 28 Apr 1920. Thomas G. died on 5 Jun 1959, he was 39.

They had one child:

i. Sherrie.



Thelma Yvonne second married Earl Leroy MILLS. Born on 8 Nov 1927. Earl Leroy died in Gallup, McKinley County, New Mexico on 30 Oct 1990, he was 62.

On 3 Feb 1997 when Christina Lynn was 29, she married Marshall Anton PELOT, son of Harold Anton PELOT & Marjorie Marie OLINGER, in Lake Tahoe, Nevada. Born on 22 Dec 1956 in Wichita, Kansas.

ii. Dyana Leslie. Born on 11 May 1968 in Little County of Mary Hospital, Torrance, Los Angeles County, California.

On 4 May 1990 when Dyana Leslie was 21, she married Neil GARLAND, son of Alonzo Ray GARLAND & Dorlynn ROWLAND, in Mason, Warren County, Ohio. Born on 6 Jun 1964 in Hamilton County, Butler County, Ohio.



Alvin Leslie second married Carol CARLSON. They were divorced in 1986.

On 31 Dec 1986 when Alvin Leslie was 45, he third married Jennifer Marie HERRERA, daughter of Frank V. HERRERA & Celia RENDON, in Upland, San Bernardino County, California. Born on 4 Nov 1955 in Pico Rivera, California. They were divorced in 2002.
