According to "Pennsylvania Births - Delaware County - 1682-1800", by John T.
Humphrey, 1995, Delaware County meeting houses (and other churches) with
available birth (or baptism) records from that time period include:
1. Chester Monthly Meeting, Chester (est. 1681)
2. Concord Monthly Meeting Concord Township, (est. 1684)
3. Darby Monthly Meeting, Darby, (est. 1684)
4. Radnor Monthly Meeting, Radnor Township (est. 1684)
5. St. Paul's Protestant Episcopal Church, Chester (est. 1702)
6. St. David's Protestant Episcopal Church, Radnor Township (est. 1700)
I expect that the records for those meetings are maintained at the Friends
Historical Library, Swarthmore College, Swarthmore, PA 19081.
Unfortunately, "Pennsylvania Births...", which proportedly lists all
AVAILABLE birth records for those meetings for those years, lists no one
by the name of Rigby, Rigbey or Abigail Baker. This suggests that your
Rigbys may have attended a meeting in an adjacent county and have had
their records maintained there.
"The Hoopes Family Record, Volume I", edited by G. R. Fuller, J. M.
Hoopes, and L. F. Webster, 1979 (p. 132) mentions an Abigail Rigby born
8Jan1785 in Delaware County to Daniel and Abigail (Baker) Rigby
(supporting your suggestion that Daniel married Abigail before 1785.)
According to "A Newlin-Mendenhall Alliance", compiled by Russell Newlin
Abel, 1989 (p. 122), a James Rigby married a Hannah Brown who was the
daughter of Daniel and Susannah Brown. Daniel died in 1767 and his estate
papers are available in the Chester County Archives, 117 W. Gay street,
West Chester, PA. Daniel and Susannah's other children included Susannah,
Joseph and Nathaniel Brown. (With any luck, Daniel's estate papers may
mention a grandson named Daniel Rigby!)
Good luck!
