I will add a bit to the Thomas Thornburgh/Thornbrough discussion.
According to Memoirs of William and Nathan Hunt
(Philadelphia, 1858), pp. 24-25, Thomas died of smallpox in
Pennsylvania while returning home from a visit to Europe. The editor
puts his death "in or about the year 1787." Thomas was a recorded
minister; he had accompanied William Hunt, another minister from New
Garden in North Carolina, to England in 1772.

One small correction. I am sure that Ruth Hunt's mother was Ann
Beals, not Mary. A nineteenth-century account made her "Mary Ann," but
in contemporary records she is always Ann.
