Saw this letter in my local paper (Williamson County (TX) Sun) and thought it
might be interesting to someone:
"The Joshua Haworth Wright family is making plans for a Centennial Celebration
of Life family reunion in Florence on August 1 and 2, 1998. This is the 100th
year of Joshua's death on August 6, 1898. His wife Janie died December 16,
1905. Josh was born April 5, 1831, in Ohio to Quaker parents and arrived in
Texas about 1838, two years after the fall of the Alamo and while Texas was
still a Republic. On April 9, 1853, in Anderson County, he married Elizabeth
Jane Miller. Josh, a birthright Quaker, became a Primitive Baptist minister.
The Joshua Wright family lived int he Corn Hill area near Jarrell, around
1870.

Their children are Lydia A. and (William T. McGee) buried in the Florence
Cemetery, Rebecca and (Francis Wyatt), Nancy and (Henry F. Levy), Matilda and
(William A. Levy), Rosa and (Brannick Stuart), Mary and (William A. Hickman),
(Sarah Pennington) and John William Wright, (Sally Glover) and James Joshua
Wright, (Mary Hash) and Thomas Stockton Wright and Isacc Furman Wright.

The last years of their lives, Josh and Janie lived near Youngsport, Bell
County, and Josh served the Gravel Hill Primitive Baptist Church, then located
four and one half miles east of Florence. They are buried in the Gravel Hill
Cemetery by the church. The church building is no longer there. The
congregation moved to the Lawler Community in 1925, then in 1929 to Florence
at its present one-room building at Preslar and Suttles. The congregation is
approximately 142 years church age.

The old Gravel Hill Church building then became Gravel Hill School. Later the
building is thought to have been moved in town to the Florence school yard.
