Several of my ancestors (Joseph Woodward, wife Hope Shotwell,
> children, brothers and sisters) are buried there.

I have ooddles of SHOTWELL's and WOODWARD's but not Joseph nor Hope. Do
you happen to know the parents of Joseph and Hope? SHOTWELL is one of my
direct lines...Abraham 1) SHOTWELL was my 10th gr gf...

Linda there is a Tombstone project on GenWeb the address is
www.rootsweb.com/~cemetery

I looked in the PA under Fayette county..found "some small cemeteries in
Fayette county" looked thru there, didn't find your Sandy Hill Cemetery
but I could of missed it, I was scanning kinda fast...wanted to get this
letter off to you..

We just completed recording the cemetery here in Brookings, Oregon for
the Tombstone Project...it was a great experience.

There was evidence of recent burial. The sign on the fence indicates it is a Quaker Cemetery established in 1819. Joseph Woodward came from Chester Co to Fayette Co with brothers Caleb, John, Joshua, and sisters Ann and Elizabeth. He bought land and lived in Fayette Co where he died in 1856. Sandy Hill Union Church is adjacent but is not listed in the New Salem church list. Any help
