Good God! NO!
The Congregationalists in Massachusetts hanged Quakers- maybe even burnt
them.Their government was a theocracy.
The Congregationalists were responsible for the Salem witch trials. The
brother of one of my Masachusetts Bay ancestors was publically whipped for
brutalizing a slave. Goodness knows what he did to the slave to deserve a
whipping.They were not nice people!
The Pilgrims who settled at Plymouth were much more tolerant.
