Friends,
To all who asked for the information I've turned up on the Heiss boo
I e-mailed George Hanlin <> to inquire. The
Indiana State Historical Society is reprinting its catalog. Should be
available in early November. One is being mailed to me. They have a
mailing list started, so if you're interested....
Also can't resist adding that I think the Pilgrims at Plymouth were just
as narrow as other branches of religion. Governor Brewster was the be
all and end all of the community, religion, etc. His way was the only
way, his religion the only true religion! Had interesting talks with
staff at Plimoth Plantation about this. Call them arguments! They had
little use for the ideas of this Quaker lady! They had yet to hear of
Quakerism, George Fox, et al, and couldn't imagine it would be welcomed
in Mass. Bay Colony--which of course, it was not.
Having learned that Mary Dyer was hanged for her Quaker beliefs on the
Boston Common, our children, in 1969 were somewhat apprehensive about
moving here to Mass. They were mightily relieved to learn times had
changed!
