Will and list,

I saw your post that stated the films of meeting records are also
available from the family history library. I last used the films at
Swarthmore sometime about 1993. At that time the archivist told me that
some of them were not available from LDS because of the terms of the
deposit of the original records. I was interested in Hopewell MM in
Frederick Co, VA and that was one of the ones that LDS did not have at
that time. I have used a film from LDS that sounded like the original
records when I ordered it, but it is an abstract of the original records
by Gilbert Cope. The abstractor (just like Hinshaw) 'cleaned-up' the
parts that were not too flattering to the members (like my ancestor's
brother who was put out for fornication, and the details of who with and
with what result are in the original record -- Hinshaw and Cope just
listed him as put out and did not give a reason!)

Has this changed and are all of the Swarthmore filmed records now
available from LDS?

Thanks,
Ellen Copper
