Subject: Re: Quakers and Methodists and meeting huse in Marlboro S C

List,

A group of Quakers built a Meeting House in Marlboro County some time after
1730. That is when this area of S C was opened for settlement by Europeans.
After awhile most of the Quakers left this area to go to the "North West",
they left their building to be used as a place of worship by all other
dominations. Both Baptist and Methodist used the former Quaker Meeting
House.
Some of my ancestors may have been Quaker; Copeland/Cupeland/ Coplin/,
Coward/Cowherd, Parker, Teal, Peavy, Brock, and
Swet/Swett/Swete/Swette/Sweet/Sweete/Sweat/Sweate/Sweatt. Folk by these
names
stayed in Marlboro County. Now, can anyone tell me how to find out when the
Meeting House was built, and when the Quakers left? (They did not like
slavery.) And any other info that might help me.

I have been told the above names were Quaker names. I would love to find
out
for sure one way or the other. My folks who remained here became mostly
Methodist and a few Baptist.

Any help with will be greatly appriciated.

Patsy
