Why not simply print the date, time, place, etc. where the death occurred. A
code would be a royal pain. I never understood obits lack of information
anyway. I once worked as journalist and we were taught to write as though we
were writing to a bunch of 6th graders - you assume that people don't know
much and spell everything out for them. That way there aren't as many
questions. This was for articles, certainly the obit writers could do us the
same courtesy.
