Jan. 29, 1677 Mahlon Stacy conveyed a tract of land to Samuel Reckless of
Nottingham Shire, England. By 1700 it was deeded to his son l Joseph, who in
1712 purchased an additional acreage from Jonathon Wright.
It is as assumed the first Joseph Reckless's Home was on the east side of the
Georgetown Road opposite the road from Recklesstown to Black Horse (Newbolds
Lane). It was destroyed by fire in the 20th Century. The homes of the other
ll-V generation have not been determined.
lll Robert Reckless and lll Anthony Reckless both were heroes of the
Revolution. Robert died in action Dec. 27, 1782. A newspaper ad of Trenton
Banking Co., showed a note May 27th 1808, by lll Anthony Reckless, who died
in 1817. His obituary writteb by Aaron D. Woodruff, Attorney General of New
Jersey and published in the Trenton Federalist, shows the esteem in which he
was held by the most prominent men in the state.

The Wrights, five brothers, came to this country 1677/8. They each had
descendants of similar surnames, which has confused the genealogists. Each
generation has included men of influence in the affairs of this area. George
G. Raddin of Wilkes-Barre, Pa. is assembling information on the Wrights.
