Hi ==
Have recently discovered that several generations (at least) of my father's
ancestors were Quakers, and have been puzzling over MM records for the last
month. I need some help with the terminology, please.
I know that the acronym "relrq" stands for "released by request", but what
does it **mean**? Was the person released from his MM (without a
certificate?), or released from the Quaker community (sort of a
self-initiated disownment?), or...???
Are any of you tracing WILLIS Quakers in Long Island and PA? I checked the
QUAKER-ROOTS archive but found no relevant messages.
Cheers,
Bob
