That, if true and I have reservations about that, was insensitive and stupid.
Counting months for gawd's sake.!!
What a primitive technique for determining whether a couple "met the
standards"
What duplicity! We will accept you with open arms if you got married
by a JP, but we KICK YOU out if you have a baby 8 months after WE
married you.
TELL US IT ISN'T SO.
(or I will start believing that perhaps our ancestors also inspected the palms
of adolescents, looking for hairy growth!)
