Hello Everyone,
After more then 12 years of looking, I have just recently discovered
that my 3 G.Grandfather, Mason MILLER was a Quaker. Do to the kindness
of the people on this list, I have gotten quite a bit of information
regarding Mason and Ruth and their children. He attended the Trent MM,
in North Carolina and married Ruth ?. Because the information from the
Trent Meeting is gone, that will make finding out Ruth's maiden name a
lot harder. Mason and Ruth were married abt 1800 and then moved from
North Carolina in early 1800 to PA and then on to OH about 1810. I am
now attempting to fill in some of the blanks on their children.
Their children were:
Asa, b Oct 10, 1800
Eli, b April 7, 1802
Stephen, b May 16, 1804
Nathan, b Feb 15, 1806
Sarah, b Feb 14, 1808
Mary b, Aug 1, 1809
Rachel, b Aug 18, 1811
William, b Oct 23, 1814 (my G.G. Grandfather)
Thomas, b Nov 11, 1816
Edith, b Dec 13, 1819
Elijah, b Aug 12, 1822, died Aug 3, 1823
The main focus of my posting is Eli MILLER and a possible connection to
the HOLLINGSWORTH family. Eli is listed on the 1850 Harrison Co, OH
census with his wife, Mary. Mary is listed as being 27 years old. In a
book called "Historical Collections of Harrison Co, OH there is a
listing for a will for an Eli MILLER. The legates of this will are
William MILLER, (Eli's brother ?), Elwood HOLLINGSWORTH, Levi
HOLLINGSWORTH, and Sarah HOLLINGSWORTH.
I was wondering if it is possible that Eli's wife Mary is also a
HOLLINGSWORTH. Could Elwood, Levi and Sarah HOLLINGSWORTH be relatives
of Mary?
I have looked online and found information on the HOLLINGSWORTH family
which lists some marriages that took place at Kennett MM.. The
HOLLINGSWORTH family is also found in Flushing, Belmont OH. I
understand that this family originally came from South Carolina. Is it
possible that the HOLLINGSWORTH family were Quakers?
Do any of these names sound familiar to anyone? Does anyone have any
information at all on the HOLLINGSWORTH family as Quakers? I would
certainly appreciate hearing from you.
Thank you very much.
Mary
