Trying to confirm/disqualify family-rumor that my HOLLOWAY and
PATE ancestors were Quaker. Any help or suggestions would be
appreciated from this, my first posting to the list.

(John) MINTER HOLLOWAY, b. 1782 VA/NC; married to MARGERY
PATE, b. 1782 NC/TN. They had 10 children, only 3 confirmed:
MATTHEW, RUTH MOAB, AND JOHN A. (Holloway); born early 1800s
Monroe County, TN and earliest white residents of that region.
Also related to: BERMILLION HOLLOWAY and BURTON WILLIAMSON
HOLLOWAY,father/son (IGI); and JOHN AND JEREMIAH HOLLOWAY in
Monroe County, TN (1830s census, tax lists).

MINTER and BURTON (perhaps Uncle/nephew) migrated with the
SITZLER/SISTLER families to Pope County, southern IL (early 1850s).

While it is possible that HOLLOWAY(s) could have been
Quaker, there are big doubts about Margery PATE
(his wife), since her father served in the VA Militia
in the Revolutionary War (1777-1783) and was given two
land grants (Nolichucky River, TN)for his military service.

If Minter married outside of his faith, would all family
records be destroyed?

Minter's father *could* be WILLIAM "BILLEY" HOLLOWAY, who
became a protestant minister, after the war; and, built
& founded a church in the south with several of his sons.
