In 1740 my ancestor, a single man, immigrated to Chester County, PA. He is listed as a witness to 3 Quaker marriages and he married a Quaker girl. Questions: Could a non-Quaker be a witness to a Quaker marriage and could a non-Quaker be married in a Quaker ceremony? We do not know for certain whether or not he was a Quaker. The answers to these questions could help settle the matter. Thanks.
