Each congregation would have had worship twice a week. One or a few
nearby congregations would meet together once a month for
business.
During worship all wait in silence for a prompting from God. Any
individual my receive a message for the group, and stand and deliver it.
A Quaker business meeting IS in fact a meeting for worship, at least as
designed. Decisions are presented to the group. Again, the group waits
for God's guidance, and any person can speak. No decision is taken until
all (or at least nearly all) agree that the group has arrived at the best
decision. If the group had indeed listened to God, this will be so.
