Apparition of St. Michael

Dear Friends,

Patience Ballinger b 1759 dau of Josiah and Elizabeth Ballinger of Frederick Co., VA. Ancestral File has bd 1759 at Hopewell Monthly Meeting (not sure if this is her birthplace). She married Jacob Smith b 1753. According to Ancestral File; I estimate his bd 1752/1757 from Walmer's 100 Years at Warrington (PA) and the West River (Anne Arundel Co., MD) MM Record Book A, p. 271. Jacob and Patience were married 15 Aug 1776 at Hopewell Monthly Meeting, Frederick Co., VA. (Hopewell Friends History, p. 264. Hopewell Friends records show a Patience Smith disowned (no reason given) 2nd day 3rd mo. 1789, p. 507).

Jacob and Patience moved to Beavercreek Twp., Greene Co., OH. He died there 12 Dec 1819 and she 23 Mar 1835 (I don't have the actual death record).

They had one daughter (perhaps more children?) Elizabeth Smith b 3 Jul 1777 d 22 Jan 1834 Greene Co. OH (this info. from Ancestral File).

I am related to these Smiths. Jacob Smith was son of my 4th ggparents Joseph Smith and Rachel Beals.

Yours faithfully,
Margaret Robe Summitt
Everett, WA
