Hello, Everyone,
Yesterday my husband made a wonderful "find" and I wondered if anyone on
the list would have an interest in names, events and other things from
my father's 1922-1925 Whittier College "Acropolis" yearbooks.
The most exciting thing for ME was to discover that I was right in
thinking that Papa had told me that Jessamyn West was in school at the
same time he was...his freshman and sophomore years. In fact, she was
the Assistant Editor to Esther Milhous, Editor-in-Chief. (Would Esther
be related to Richard Milhous Nixon?) AND...Jessamyn West signed his
yearbook that year, too. So my memories of my father's college stories
was right...a relief, as my mind feels quite porous at the moment. <G>
I'd be most happy to list graduates, professors, etc. and do lookups if
there are any requests. There are many names that sound so familiar to
me as an Earlham College student and from my participation on this
Quaker Roots List and I thought perhaps some of you might want to check
connections with Whittier during those years.
Sincerely, Cindy
Lucinda Cunningham Durbin
