Subject: [Q-R] Quakers in Virginia/North Carolina
Date: Tue, 26 Jun 2001 08:10:03 -0700 (PDT)
Hello List,
When did the Quakers come into the Albermarle Sound
area of North Carolina? My ancestor, Robert WILLSON
is listed in the Perquimins County as early as 1688
and I think was already a Quaker when he came from
Chuckatuck, Nansemond County, Virginia. He was 6
when he came from England on the ship Paul in 1635
with his mother Katherine and brother Richard. They
are listed as being of the Church of England then.
So I quess my question is....Were there Quakers in
that part of Virginia before 1688? And what were the
names of the meetings?
Thanks, Sally ()
