This is a correction of my reply on 06/28/2001 to the person at the e-mail
address who on 06/26/200l submitted queries pertaining to the
Maiden Creek Meetinghouse in Berks County, PA and the location of the records.
According to my recollection, Maiden Creek Meeting was a subordinate
Meeting of Exeter Monthly Meeting in Colonial times.
While the minutes of Exeter Monthly Meeting, as far as I know, are
available for viewing on micofilm at the Friends Historical Library at
Swarthmore College, Swarthmore, PA, outside of Philadelphia, it appears that
these minutes have been published in abstracted form, probably by the Selby
Publishing Co., along with abstracted minutes of a number of Monthly Meetings
located in Delaware and Chester Counties, outside of Philadelphia. There are
minutes from about twelve Monthly Meetings published in a six volume set, as
I remember. I have seen this set at the Iowa Historical Library in Des
Moines, and I believe that it is now available in a number of large
historical and genealogical libraries. It is difficult for me to get to Des
Moines at this point to check on this.
I wanted to correct any misleading statement I may have made regarding
abstracts of the Exeter MM records.
