David, you asked how to obtain a copy of the 1693-1778 Bucks County
Tax Records, but I have not yet seen a response to that question.

I believe that it is still available from:

Bucks County Genealogical Society
Attn.: Publications
P.O. Box 1092
Doylestown, PA 18901.

Ask for:

Bucks County Tax Records, 1693-1778
compiled by Terry A. McNealy & Frances Wise Waite
Indexed.
$17.50 (in summer of 1998), plus $3.00 shipping & handling

For whatever it may be worth, the name Joseph Carter appears twice,
in the 1764 and 1778 Northampton Township tax lists. No proof that
this is your Joseph Carter, but there are Dungins (1764) and Dungans
(1778) listed in the same township, and as you no doubt realize,
Bensalem is very close to Northampton.

No James Carter indexed.

Good luck.

Ruth
