Jane, I do not see any exact matches for you, but perhaps some of the
following may be helpful. (These Jacobs seem a bit "late" to be your
Jacque Verrier, especially if they are all the same "single man," but
they might be part of his family ....)
Page 12, there is a "Jacob [Verity?]" taxed (poor tax) 6 shillings as
a single man "at Datto" in Solebury Township in 1751. (If "Datto" is
supposed to represent "Ditto," he *may* have been taxed at "the
Ruckmans.")
Page 66, "Jacob Veridy" is taxed in Springfield Township in 1775, and
page 88, "Jacob Varity" is taxed (provincial tax) 1 pound 10
shillings in Springfield Township in 1778.
If you think any of these three might be people you are looking for,
please let me know and I will send you more detail on the 1775
taxation.
There are two Verrees indexed with "blank" given names, as well as
two entries for Robert Verree.
The first of these "blanks" is on page 81, where Isacher Morris is
taxed in Wrightstown Township in 1775 on the livestock he owns; on
the second line of his entry he is taxed again for "Rents of Verree."
Likewise on page 82, same township and year, Richard Parsons is taxed
for "Rents of Verree."
Page 40, Robert Verree is taxed (poor tax) 12 pounds 3 shillings in
Wrightstown Township in 1763.
Page 44, Robert Verree is again taxed (poor tax) 12 pounds 3
shillings in Wrightstown Township in 1764.
I hope this may be of at least a little help, if only as a suggestion
for other areas of Bucks County where your James/Jacque Verrier might
have moved.
Ruth
