I, too, am particularly interested in the Quaker families of New Castle, Westchester County, New York. According to my family records, my gggrandmother, Harriet Kipp, was born in New Castle, NY 7 Apr 1832. Her family were Quakers. Harriet married a surveyor from Cornwall, England, John B. Henwood on 5 Feb 1853 at the home of her parents, Willet Kipp (b.1793, New Castle, NY- d. aft 1853) and Mary Carpenter Kipp.
According to the family tree researched by a family member about 50 years ago, Willet Kipp's forebear, Benjamin Kipp, moved from New Amsterdam to Westchester County in 1732. The generations following continued to live there -
Jesse Kipp (b. 23 Feb 1740) m. Ann Haight
Gilbert Kipp (b. Dec. 1765) m. Hannah Sarles
Willet Kipp (b. 25 Jul 1793 -aft 1853) m. Mary Carpeneter
I have just begun my consideration of this side of the family. I "assumed" that the records from the Chappaqua Meeting Houses would have provided information about the families living in what became New Castle. Now I am wondering where to seek documentation of those families who were in the area from the 1730s on.
Any guidance and thoughts would be sincerely appreciated.
