Just FYI: this reference list of Quaker Abbreviations was taken from Heiss:

Jo,
I'll try to be more clear. In the original records, "married contrary to
discipline" could mean marrying to a non-Friend; the discipline did forbid
such marriages. I don't know how the compilers would have abbreviated in
a case where the records said "married contrary to discipline", but it was
clearly a case of marrying to a non-member.
You make a good point. It would be a good idea to go to the front of the
book and see what it says there about the abbreviations. As I recall, the
six Hinshaw volumes have very brief explanations, the Heiss volumes of
Indiana Quaker records have quite detailed explanations, and some of the
bootleg versions of other meetings, as sold by Selby, have no explanations
at all. But I haven't looked at any of them for a long time.
Anyway, I still have my doubts about the precision of the various
categories of marriage offenses as represented in the extracts. As
always, a look at the original records will make many things clear that
are unclear in the extracts.
