Maybe that was one reason for separating men and women for meeting for
business! At least she would not hear the "sorry" FIRST HAND!

Well, I don't think it happened much.
Can you imagine it? The hubby apologizes to his meeting and then turns to
find his blushing bride giving him the evil eye. "So," she says. "You're
sorry, huh?" And, then, he becomes very sorry.
Of course, the apology wasn't for marrying a specific person, but for
ignoring the rule against marrying non-Quakers. A non-Quaker COULD attend
and, eventually, join the meeting, but that took time. And you know how
impatient young people can be.
