I am currently reading "Chesapeake" by James A. Michener (for the second
time) and it centers around the area of the Choptank. Main characters are the
ship building Quaker family there.
Of course, the book is fiction but it is based on history. Starts out in the
1600s and I am now in the mid 1800s and the case against slavery is building
to the volcanic point. One of my favorite Michener books and just as good the
second time around, actually better!
