I believe my Abraham Elliott (who moves to Vigo County Indiana from Ohio
about 1816) was descended from Elliotts who were Quakers in NC. In
Abraham's will which he writes March 1821, he names his executors to be
his oldest son and his trusty friend David Lykins. Here is what I have
in my data base:

Abraham appoints his son Abner and his "trusty friend" David Lykins as
executors. But he says that David Lykins can act with full power for
both of them if Abner is not present. I think that Abner was back
in Ohio. That Abner had married and settled there before Abraham moved to
Indiana. He may even have bought Abraham's land if Abraham had land in Ohio
on Abraham's leave taking. But Abraham does not feel the need to leave
Abner anything at all so perhaps Abner had received the farm in Ohio.

I have not yet followed up on several of the leads in the above
paragraph....but I do have a small amount of information about the
Lykins family who were residing in Vigo County in this time period. I
have been very interested in knowing if David Lykins and Abraham Elliott
were friends before moving to Vigo County or if they became friends in
this new area.

I do know for sure that Abraham Elliott's daughter from whom I descend
married a man (Nehemiah McKinsey) who was not Quaker but had extensive
Quaker connections--his family had moved from Newberry County, SC with
the mass exodus of the Quakers out of the south and into Ohio and
Indiana in the first decade of the 1800's. I believe that Nehemiah's
mother is buried in the cemetery that adjoined the Bush River MM.

But I have no reason to believe or disbelieve that David Lykins was
Quaker. Marsha in WV
