I'm not certain what "vault" means either. I do know
that not all materials are kept in the library itself
so you just can't walk in and expect to find it but
some that are not used frequently are stored in
the granite mountain - perhaps this is the vault?
I haven't come up against this before but perhaps
someone who uses the LDS library in Salt Lake can
clarify this.
The men's minutes will tell you if a certificate
of removal was issued for a man and sometimes his
family or when he was received into membership.
It might also tell you if he was disowned or
admonished for an offense contrary to the discipline.
It won't tell you his birth, burial or marriage
date as they would be kept in separate books.
It could be that only this one volume of minutes
existed when the records were microfilmed. Did you
also check the Swarthmore directory to see what they
have?
