This is an interesting discussion; but there is one thing not mentioned yet -- the further back in time one goes, the shorter a life-span people had, just 100 years ago, most people died in their 50s- also more children died young, and mothers died in childbirth. As one goes back in time, consider the terrible plagues and other maladies that killed off whole towns and cities. After all, not until the WW 2 did they have Penicillin, and people were dying of " consumption ", or T B. That was just 60 years ago. So there were a lot fewer ancestors to consider, back then.
