This isn't directly relevant to the original enquiry, but I'll throw it into
the pot just for possible fun!

The Dickinson surname is a patronymic (son of Dick/Richard). There were a
lot of Richards about when surnames developed about 700/800 years ago, so
many Dickinson families emerged that were entirely unrelated to each other.

More than one of these went Quaker in the 1650s/60s. And more than one of
those went to America.
