NEHGS sold me:
"Early Vital Records: Barnstable, Dukes & Nantucket Counties Massachutstts"
in about 1850", by Search-Research. We then installed it right on to my
computer in order to make it more managable. There is a lot of Plymouth, MA
material on this CD.

Sturgis Library, Barnstable, MA.

My son & I have done walk-in research at this Sturgis Library, Barnstable,
and at the public library in East Lyme, Barnstable Co., MA. STURGIS has a
Genealogy Room. Sturgis Library is housed in the oldest library building,
still still in extistance in America. It has been awhile since I was there;
but Jeff has a time-share in Falsmouth and goes every year.
(We have COFFIN & Allied Families, Nantucket Island and Martha's Vineyard,
and of course, Barnstable County (SEARS, PADDOCK & others.)!

As for STANTONs, I use:
Chesebrough on Rootsweb World Connect
(Lists sources.)

The Chesebrough home page.

Larry Chesbro' Chesbro'is a registered name.

Co., CT.

Westerly RI is just across the border from Stonington, CT.

Subject: [Q-R] William Stanton Perry, of South Kingston, RI (1799-1862)

I found some postings on this man in the archives of the MA-BARNST list
2003, and I wanted to try this list as well as the one for Washington
County, RI, in order to make contact with anyone who descends from this man
knows more about him. William Stanton Perry is one of my husband's

He was born in South Kingston, Rhode Island, and lived there all or most of

his life, as far as I know. He was a Quaker, and he was a member of the
South Kingston MM. William Wright was very helpful to me a few years ago
trying to push down the brick wall, but I haven't succeeded as yet.

William's mother might have been a daughter of Joseph Perry (1752-1818) and

his wife Mary Stanton, according to the information in the MA-BARNST list's

archives. Joseph was a son of Edward Perry (born 1707) of Sandwich,
Barnstable County, MA, and his wife Sarah Tripp.

This man has been a challenge ever since I discovered him in the family
tree. Some believe he might have been a son of Samuel Perry of the
area, but the story in the 2003 postings -- that a family Bible indicates
Susanna Perry, daughter of Joseph, was his mother -- would contradict that

I would like very much to see a scanned image or photocopy image of that
Bible, and any family letters that address the same subject, and I would be

happy to pay the expense involved. If the Bible is in the hands of a
society, please tell me which one. If you have any information to share on

this man and his parentage or descendants, I would be delighted to hear

My husband is a descendant, by way of William's son Edward Burroughs Perry.
