Claude,
while filing your e-mail into this 'mystery' file, I filed it
next to one message of last year with the name of EGGELING,
his name was Christopher, and he was named in connection
to Georg Herbecke.

A descendant of Herbecke by the name of Ray Arbic told me this:
"I know he existed as Eggeling because he is listed in as No.22 on
page 487 of a Muster dated aug. 29, 1779 at Three Rivers in the
Company of Captain Frederick v. Plessen, in the infantry of
Lieutn. Col. Ehrenkrook. The information comes from Haldimand
Paper, Q-series, Vol.15,16,17 on Reel C-11891 NAC.
He is also mentioned as 'deceased' at the wedding of his son Laurent
in St. Benoit on 1. Aug. 1808.
My interest is that his widow named in the 1808 wedding, married my
ancestor Georg Herbecke. and all of the Eggeling or Equelling descendants
eventually adopted the Arbique/Arbic surname as they were raised by
Georg Herbecke.

How about that - Ray Arbic also said that neither Brunswick nor Marburg
seem to have any information.

Well, that should help you getting over this brickwall,
John Merz
