Hi,

The LDS does not sell any microfilms or microfishe. It was a lot of
writing for me too but I got my history right. They asked me to be an
assistant librarian, so they thought I knew what I was doing, I guess. I
did it informally while I was there and they would get stuck for an answer
for a researcher.

I once inquired about getting microfilms for Quebec or Ontario. I can't
remember if it was Quebec Church, Ontario Church or census films. The cost
was $75 each. I was used to buying the American Genealogical Lending
Library (AGLL) films from Ogden? Utah for $15 minus the film rental cost.

You can rent the US census films cheaper at an LDS branch library near you.
Mine was 35 miles away. I rented the Church stuff from the LDS and US
stuff at my local library. I read the US stuff while waiting for the LDS
material to come in. VERY nice people work at these LDS branch libraries.
Don't be afraid to go there.

I seems to me the place I found or was told of by the National Archives
did photographic work for the government.

Sorry I can't remember,

Paul

One day while at the LDS library, a guy walked in and said, "Hi I am here
to buy my family genealogy". I librarian was so taken back she said,
"Wel...We..Well We don't do that here. You have to do your own research.".
It made me smile. I wasn't much better my first time either but I wasn't
that bad.

Hi,
After reading your interesting and informative letter about LDS records,
I do have one question...maybe you can answer it. Last summer, I rented,
from LDS, the parish records where many of my relatives were listed. I
thought my hand was going to fall off from copying down all those names,
dates, etc. I literally have a tablet full of entries! Now, looking back
over my notes, I wish I had that microfilm again to go back over and fill
in other bits and pieces..which brings me to my question: Instead of
renting it again, is it possible to just purchase that microfilm from LDS
and then just be able able to take it to my local library at my leisure,
whenever I might have time? Do they sell them? How expensive are they? It
would be so much easier and convenient!
Thanks for all the wonderful help and advice I have received from the
many people on this list...you are great!
Karin
