Does demi-frere mean only half brother or can
it be ever be used to mean brother-in-law, (which I though
was beau-frere)? This was in an obit in a french
language newspaper of Woonsocket RI in 1924
"Beau-frère" can mean either "half-brother" or "brother-in-law".
"Demi-frère" means "half-brother", literally and exclusively.
