Elaine Race
BERWICK, Maine - Elaine M. Race, 65, of Hubbard Road, passed away at her
home on Thursday, March 4, 2004, after a courageous battle with cancer.
She was born in Lowell, Mass., on Oct. 21, 1938. As a baby, she was adopted
by James and Mildred (Files) Mooreside. She attended Berwick schools and
graduated from Sullivan High School in Berwick. She then attended Gorham
State Teachers College. She taught first grade for 31 years in Lebanon and
worked part time as a waitress for her parents' restaurant in Berwick.
She married Henry V. Race on June 20, 1964, and they had one son, Scott H.
Race. She loved to read and play the piano, enjoying all kinds
of music. She and her family enjoyed getting away on summer vacations to
Abbott, Maine.
She is survived by her husband, Henry; and son, Scott, both of Berwick; and
one brother, David Fall of Somersworth, N.H..

Visiting hours will be held on Sunday, March 7 from 2 to 4 p.m. at the
Johnson Funeral Home, 26 Market St., North Berwick, where a funeral
will be held on Monday, March 8, at 3 p.m..
Spring interment will be in the Village Cemetery in Abbott, Maine. Family
flowers only. Friends who wish may contribute to the Seacoast
Cancer Center, 489 Central Ave., Dover, NH 03820 and to the Wentworth Home
Care and Hospice, 113 New Rochester Road, Dover, NH 03820-8805.
