Has anyone run across Basilissa as a first name for a female? Wondering if
there was another name the person might go by. Like a relative of mine used
Isabelle and Elisabeth, interchangeably.
Reason I am asking, I am looking in Chateaugay,NY registries and ran across
the name of parents as Xavier Larrivee and Basilissa Dame for a couple of
the children's marriages but also found parents listed as Francis Xavier
Larrivee and Isabella Dame for some others.
I know Xavier was commonly used with Francois/Francis, but what about
Isabella/Isabelle for Basilissa?
Don't know if you've had an answer to your query, but, for what it's worth, I
have a gt-gt grandmother named Marie Basilisse Pellerin (1813-1882). No
indication that it was used interchangeably with Isabelle...or anything else.
Good hunting!
