While this has nothing to do with Quebec Research it does have a great deal
to do with research concerning French Catholic marriages -- in France. I
have ancestors who married in summer. In the fall they discovered that they
were related to the 3rd degree of consanguinity (the Catholic Church only
permits marriages to the 4th degree). They separated at that time, requested
a special dispensation and had their marriage 'rehabilitated' the following
March.

I had wondered what would have happened if a child had been conceived in
that period :-)
