Subject: [Q-R] Cemetery Trip

Next one day trip will again be to the southern tier . I will first be
going to Elmira, N.Y. to the military cemetery there. I've been there before
but they were installing sod a couple years ago and didn't want to get in
they're way. So I have the whole cemetery to do, that also includes the Rebel
graves section. If you weren't aware, during the Civil War, Elmira had a
Rebel Prisoner of War Camp there. It was the North's equivalent of the
South's, Andersonville. The Rebel prisoners called in Helmira instead of Elmira.
I'll also check while there if there is anything remaining of the prisoner
of war camp, the grounds, a monument or whatever?
Then from there head back north along the Finger Lake to Willard. There is
a 5,000+ cemetery there left over from the time that was a mental hospital.
So that trip could be this Sat. if the weather holds.

Best
Bill
