Subject: [Q-R] Biographical information on Pierre Vallee?
Date: Sun, 20 Feb 2011 12:27:33 -0600
Hello,
I’m seeking any source for biographical information on Pierre Vallee and his
immediate descendants. I’m going to be soon setting up a Facebook page for
cousins to connect and share research, but I’d like to have something
concrete on which I can base it before proceeding.
What I know, currently, is that Pierre Vallee (1636-1686) was one of the
early settlers at Beauport, Quebec City, Quebec, and that many generations
continued to live there long after his death. Someone once sent me a photo
of a plaque dedicated to him in the train station, there. I’ve seen that in
the last few years, Beauport has erected a monument to early families, but I
have no idea if he appears on it.
According to “The Ancestors of Peter and John Valley” by Maurice Valley (
http://www.colba.net/~vallee/Vall.html), Pierre and his parents originated
in Saint-Saens, a small town about 30 miles outside of Rouen in Normandy.
There’s a great deal of information on that page, but regretfully, nothing
much about Pierre and his life.
Is this information attainable, do you think? I may eventually take a trip
to Montreal to find some more difficult information on this line in of my
family tree, but I’d to have to go there for information that really doesn’t
exist.
Thank you for any help or ideas you can float my way.
Thomas Valley (7x great grandson to Pierre)
