Subject: [Q-R] Saving data off computers
Date: Sat, 11 Jun 2011 04:20:39 -0700 (PDT)
I have two flash drives - each one is 8 GB. When I bought them I backed up my
entire computer onto both. That would include all my documents, my genealogy
program and my bookmarks. Then I put one in my purse and one in my safe deposit
box at the bank.
I keep backing up to the flash drive in my purse - maybe every week or so
depending on how much new data I have gathered.
When I go to the bank, I make sure I visit my safe deposit box and exchange
flash drives. When I get home with the flash drive from my safe deposit box I
back up again.
That way I always have most of my data located in two different spots - my purse
which I can grab and go and the bank which will not be affected should my house
have a fire, flood, hurricane etc.
It's inexpensive but does require some planning and thought.
Passing it on.
