Hi Martha & Quebec Listers,

My date for Gabriel Berard's visit at the Trading Post at Mont-Louis
needs refining... since he filed his grievance in 1703, referring to 2
years wages due to his wife for working at Mont Louis Trading post (per
the biography by Michel Langlois..I believe it's in the "Dictionaire
Biographique des Ancestres Quebecois"), it would put his arrival there
closer to 1700 +/-, soon after the settlement was established there.

>From the sources, it seems the settlement there opened about 1699 and
closed about 1702. I'm a bit unsure, Martha, of your conclusions on the
information and .... the sources that I cited? I'm glad to defer to all
the stuff you have at hand but I didn't understand your conclusions?

By the way, the postcard website contributed by Des has some real nice
old photos of the area.

Best Wishes and I really appreciate all of your help with my research!
