Hi
The free part of the PRDH gives one Ruel, 2 Ruette and one Riel
(Riel Dirlande- in fact the grand-frand parent of Louis Riel hanged in Regina Sask for the Metis rebellion in the late 1800)
Whenever in doubt about a surname --or a name -- the place to go is the PRDH on line --- is it worth to read through ( english or french) -- and find out treasures of information.

The way to start for new listers
Read the chapters -- The parishes
First and last names
Pioneers
LINKS

Now if you or any lister is interested in Louis Riel--- go to this :
http://www.escape.ca/~shsb/Riel/eparents.htm
It is worth reading about the Canadian history - in the west.
Des.
