Suzanne:

I don't think I'm on A Quebec List, just the QUEBEC-RESEARCH List.
At least I don't know of any just Quebec List I'm on !! I'm not offended I
Just wanted you to know that I was aware it encompassed the whole Straits
area & that I knew St-Ignace was the original location. And about the
Turtle!!

I'm Assistant Director of the FHC here & put those earliest Church Records
from
St-Ignace on Indefinite so they are always available. We have St-Anne's
Records
too. I'm not a Member of their Church but represent our Genealogy Society.
Their Church has very few members here. I started reading the records from
St-
Anne's from Mackinac City & the Island as soon as Phil got the Island to
release
them first on Microfilm & now available on CDs.

For years the Pastors at St-Anne's on the Island refused to release them to
the Public, but Phil kept after them & quite a few years back, they let The
Fort
Office at Mackinaw & the Mackinaw Library have a Microfilmed copy. I spent
many a day all day at the Mackinaw City Library. I don't know how many times
I've read those records but a lot. Then I bought a Computer Copy from the St
Ignace Courthouse of all those JP records before MI kept Vital Records. That
has been very valuable as I'm done research on many of the early Cheboygan
French Families & some French-Indian Lines too. I helped at least three
Families
get their Indian Card by supplying proof by proof of their French-Indian
Lines.
Everything had to be proved step by step. These were for the Chippewa Tribe
at St-Ignace.

My Sister attended a Catholic Boarding School at St-Ignace for two years of
High School, but she coaxed my Parents to let her finish her last two years
at Cheboygan High.
