Hi List,

In Gary's defense, I think it was appropriate that he send this message to
the list. While we don't send attachments with list messages, most of the
fellow researchers we deal with also read the list. It seems the most
sensible way to reach them -- especially those whose addresses you don't have
on your permanent list.

I've had the same problem (and three viruses) in the past six months. If the
subject is intriguing enough, I will send a query about the content;
otherwise, I delete the message. I expect I am missing some real "goodies"
but the price is too high to pay.

Let's all remember that the "sender" is not always at fault. Some of these
viruses are capable of being sent from a known address with a "recognizable"
subject line. I discovered this when my queries (using the "reply" button) to
people known to me kept bouncing back as undeliverable.
