A web site called "How Much Is That"
The site helps to calculate historical purchasing power of money
including labour costs, inflation rates all kinds of things from 1700's to
now.

Should help those trying to calculate how rich (or poor) their ancestors
were
by calculating their income or living expenses in today's dollars.
