'Lo all:
I am well acquainted with Ontario records, but I am new to searching Quebec records. Thus, though I am sure this has been asked before, could sks be able to give me a quick lesson on the where/how to access civil records?
I am looking, specifically, for the death records of my great-great-grandparents. My gg-grandfather, Robert McTiernan, died 10 September 1946 in Shawville, Claredon twp, Pontiac co, QC. Where would I find his civil death registration (ie. national, provincial, or local archives) and would I be able to access this (ie. what are the restrictions)?
I understand that civil registration did not begin in Quebec until 1926, is this correct? Therefore, for my gg-grandmother, Margaret Elizabeth (Lewis) McTiernan, who died 3 March 1920 in Pontiac co, I would have to search parish registers?
TIA!
Cheers,
Gwen
