Tom,
Thanks for the response. The only problem I have with AC Quisenberry's ref
to Ann POPE is that he does not name a doc. source. I do know that ANN POPE,
daughter of John Washington was married to Walter Broadhurst and John
Washington-she was the mother of Lawrence Washington, and that info is well
documented.
ANN Quisenberry was not the daughter of Nathaniel POPE . Ann, was still
married to John Quisenberry when he died in 1717, and never married John
Washington. There has been speculation that Ann Quisenberry was the sister of
Humphrey Pope of Westmoreland County (he is my ancestor), however, I have not
been able to find any proof of that, as well.
Humphrey Pope and John Quisenberry were neighbors, John named one of his
sons, Humphrey. The only doc I could find that connects John and Humphrey
was a 1683 "surety of bond" or "security" involving Wm Serjeant of Old Rappa.
County. This 1683 "Surety" has been reported as a 1656 "Surety of Bond"
however, that is incorrect.
Humphrey Pope, Jr. (oldest son of Humphrey Pope) was a witness in John
Quisenberry's will. This may have led researchers to speculate that Ann was
a Pope and related to Humphrey. I am just not sure.

Thanks so much for your help.
Nancy Norman
